Mn_Fit Tar Files

Instructions on how to install Mn_Fit can be found in INSTALL. More details on installation under different systems can be found in INSTALL.unix and INSTALL.vms.

The TAR Files

The following files are available:

README: Instructions on how to get the tar files and a list of files with more documentation.

Mn_Fit Version 5_12 (08/09/2005)

Add reversed ARGUS function and cleaned up testing macros.

If you grab one of the ready-made executables, then before trying make install you should unpack mn_tutorial.tar.gz into the top-level Mn_Fit directory. In addition the wrong mn_fit script was included in the tar file. You should make a subdirectory bin in the mn_fit_v5_12 directory and save the appropriate mn_fit script that is given below with the tarball there.

The kernel version obtained using the command `uname -r` has been included in the tar file name, to help you choose the executable and also to help me to separate the files that use the same version of gcc, but a different kernel version.

Mn_Fit Version 5_06 (17/05/2005)

First version that includes ROOT interface; more work still needed. Makefile now works for OSF1 and SunOS as well as Linux.

Several Linux executables are provided; the filename includes gcc version. Compare the gcc version used to compile with that on your computer.

Mn_Fit Version 5_05 (15/03/2005)

Fixes to Makefile to work better in different locations. Improvements and updates to manual. Enable making of user version with Makefile.user.

Bug fixes in character variables manipulations, especially for character variables and arrays in Ntuples. Histogram titles, Ntuple variables and contents of character variables can now be accessed for use in strings such as new title.

Many old options have been removed. This version of Mn_Fit only support the HIGZ X Windows graphics option explicitly. Code for PLTSUB has been retained, but not tested.

Hopefully fixed problems with merging Ntuples - seems to not be completely true :-(

Compare the gcc version used to compile with that on your computer. 3.3.3 uses 2004 CERN libraries (without shift), 2.95.3 uses 2002 CERN libraries.
